    SONAR & HOVE FESTIVALZZZ

    glastonbury blog coming soon promise!

ok so have only got to post this today as can't get internet anywhere ever on my travels. here's last week's news....

    hi everyone

so i'm at glastonbury.... on my computer blogging. ok so not quite as sad as it sounds honest, we got here crazy late and there's a lock down on buses now so we can't get in till the morning :( so figured i'd tell u what's been happening.

first off we just announced a new UK tour in october, you can now get your tickets in the members section... i'm super excited for this and have been doing lots of plotting but all in the early stages so all i will say is basically i think you should come.

festival season has truly kicked off.... if i get asked one more time 'what's your top festival survival tip?!' i might explode... but spent last weekend at sonar which was the most clean and functional festival i've ever attended.

this is the stage we played. most epic lighting yet.

here's the brains behind the operation... although i'm still the only one who can make the tv work in the tour van. boys hey.

the gig was really good its kind of weird playing big stages takes some getting used to but had fun.

    then we went on dodgems!

    danced loads to heartbreak

    danced loads to erol

and just generally got a bit messy

next day was much more civilised. went to the CCCB where they have special exhibitions on about sound/ art/ technology installation experiment thingys.

finally saw reactable! so amazing. i want it so so so bad. i'm certain this is how aliens communicate.

checked out some other stuff... this is an image that reacts to your movements and also creates sound... kinda cool

then went to see fever ray... so inspiring was most epic show ever saw some of crystal castles too.. their sound was awful so a kind of fight kicked off between alice and the soundman, we caught up with them backstage afterwards sounded pretty funny although when you watch it back on youtube looks kind of scary.

then i had a day off - good grief - so went to the beach and promptly fell asleep leading to massive uneven suburn so now have to rock the british tourist/ lobster look for glasto. nice one.

then we went to norway to play Hove festival in arendal, which was the most beautiful festival i've ever been too... what an amazing country, all dark blue lakes and big green forests. this was the view from my hotel room

pretty amazing. it gets better. at the festival the artists had their own beach! beat that glastonbury.

and no interviews in saggy tents, we got to sail out onto a beautiful lake in the sunshine...

basically this week has made me think UK festivals have a thing or two to learn. mind you we can't help the weather. anyway just caught the end of metronomy before us, pretty epic lighting

but its the little things that count

saw my best buddy anna prior who's playing drums in metron backstage... waaaa!

apparently its actually on our rider to have pictures of animals in the dressing room now?? well done norway. shadow of ben feeding horses was absolute chance but pretty good.

then we hung out backstage and got accosted by some vikings turned roadies...

the next day i played tenorion on the boat

    whilst this lot sat about

    and jumped in the sea

    the end!

I saw you recently play in London, and thought you were amazing. I also saw another new female artist play, called Alice Gun, who I really think you should check out. You can listen to her music on www.alicegun.com.

In a similar vein....Peter Howell shows a Kids program how he made the Dr Who theme tune in the 80's using the latest "polyphonic" synthesiser.......thing is still sounds good. A 16 track analogue tape recorder takes up half the wall....quality!

i love that bit about- 'such a trip is not possible without roadies!!!'
      quite bill bailey-esque-

    Album is out NOW!!!!!

    plus pics from G-A-Y!

    hiya

cannot believe the album is out this week. no.3 in the midweeks!! incredible. thank you so so much everyone who has bought it. i feel a weird sense of relief to finally have it out there and the feedback has been amazing from all corners of the globe, really makes me see the bigger picture its so exciting. sorry to people in the US & Canada who are still waiting but to keep you busy there is an EP entitled 'Illuminations' (see what i did there blackpool folks) you can get on iTunes. so honestly now, what do you think? what's your favourite tracks??? people seem so divided and everyone i talk to has a different favourite but i kind of like that, i really wanted it to be a 'something for everyone' record. all the reviews i've seen have been really positive which is great as i was almost expecting a hype backlash, although do seem to want to dwell on the whole hype thing and not talk too much about the music... anyway i'm not complaining, i don't normally do this but did just wanna post this one as its the most favourite review i've ever had, i even totally agree with the criticisms. thank you very much miranda sawyer.

or you can read it here

anyway. just listening to moroder's 'the chase', so good. so what else. oh yeah played G-A-Y on saturday! was probably my most popstar moment yet - i even did dance moves! ok not very many but it was so much fun and a real honour to play as so many amazing people have done before, thank you so much everyone who helped with my outfits and the show.... i had a big black cape then turned into barbarella then into an amazing sequin dress by manjit deu (who is a genius) accessorised by a keytar! i don't have many pics so if you have please post them in the members section but here's the barbarellaesque stage....

(there's also quite a funny video on youtube apparently....)

oh here is free album minimix??

Just bought tickets to your L.A. show in September! I bought 'Hands' as an import, just couldn't wait for the US release :) I'm LOVING it- currently obsessed with 'Hearts Collide.' I've listened to "Tune Into My Heart" about a hundred times since it's a situation I'm living right now. 'Remedy' is one of the most fun songs I've heard in a while.. thanks Boots!!

    • David Allen 17.06.2009 @ 11:15:26AM

      Hi Victoria,

Listening to the album on Spotify now and already bought it for my sister-in-law in Spain. Can't believe no one has mentioned "Meddle" on this thread. I thought it was a great track from the day you performed it on Later With Jools Holland. Anyone who hasn't seen it, go now to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cHX-znop8Q I love the combination of old (piano), kitsch (Stylophone) and geeky (Tenori-On).

      Good luck!

      Dave

    • dani 16.06.2009 @ 16:10:08PM

So I've got the super bundle and absolutely love every single song on it. Don't recall that ever happening before. Incredible. Thanks Little Boots.

Like reading about what you listen to as well. I always check it out on we7 and so far it's all brilliant.
So thanks also for helping me to fill my Ipod. I knew I should have bought the 32Gb.

      Any more recommendations most welcome.

Makes me wonder whether I'd prefer to see you singing or DJing. That'll be both then.

      Thanks
      Dani

    • dazza 15.06.2009 @ 20:11:07PM

Got to say it's the best album I've heard for a long long time..
It's on all the time in the car.

    • REDnBLACK 15.06.2009 @ 15:18:18PM

      Hey Victoria!
Got your album at the weekend and its awesome been playing it nonstop while doing my writing. Are you going to release Symetry? You must!
Keep up the excellent work and please tour kent one day.
      xx
      Daniel

    • pantokloo 15.06.2009 @ 11:28:12AM

i have the album nox :D and have to say its f***ing good!

    • Nickla 13.06.2009 @ 12:52:43PM

      Victoria,

You are quite simply the most exciting female music artist that has come along since Kate Bush - IMHO. Somebody else on here has already compared your songwriting ability in the same league of that great lady and I have to agree. The hidden track on the album is hardly 'cutesy'- it's beautiful!

I bought the album today and on first listen it's great. Love 'New in Town', 'Symmetry', 'Ghosts', 'Click'....can't wait to truly 'get into it!"

I'm really excited for you Bootsy. The best is yet to come......Seen you a couple of times live too but looking forward to the giant Tenori-on and the sequineed wolves and the laser dresses!?

      Wishing you every success xxxxx

    • ilovelittleboots 13.06.2009 @ 00:20:29AM

everything she sings makes me go weak at the knees :) x

    • ponyonchristmas 12.06.2009 @ 09:59:26AM

My favourite is 'Hearts Collide' - amazing. If you don't release it, Little Boots, I will cry! 'Mathematics' (the way you sing 'Pythagoras' should make everyone weak at the knees...for some reason...), 'Symmetry' and 'New In Town' are also favourites of mine. Oh, and I really like 'Ghosts' as well! And the rest is good as well, of course. :P

    • pantokloo 11.06.2009 @ 21:18:47PM

i've heard both bad and good things about the album but Im wainting for my own copy to decid for my self i think i will like it as long as it won't sound like new in town sorry boots buts that not your best work!

    • Saba. 11.06.2009 @ 20:26:03PM

You're not doing anything between 20th and 29th of July? So sad.. I was actually coming in London in that period. I'm very disappointed! :(
Anyway congrats for your achievements so far..
      Love, Radu.

    • theirdarkaddress 11.06.2009 @ 19:42:50PM

Symmetry and Remedy. And Hearts Collide. A-ma-zing. In fact I've been singing Remedy in my head since Dot2Dot in Nottingham!

    • dirtyboots 11.06.2009 @ 18:56:38PM

barb is so lady ga ga- but that is no bad thang
people have to get a sense of humor when it comes to this and ga ga!
the rest looks a bit ashes to ashes to me- all visage-y!
the bottom pic is beautiful- i hope you dont agree with you're cuteness being a bad thing
because it is a HUGE part of lil boots charm- your UNBELIEVABLE cuteness!
i lykee remedy, earthquake, stuck on repeat, click, maths, new in town- and think you should send hands- the song to kate bush- because it sounds so like one of her songs its incredible!!
AND NO HIGHER COMPLIMENT CAN BE PAID- shirley!

    • ilovelittleboots 11.06.2009 @ 18:01:26PM

favourite songs off the album would be: click, remedy, earthquake, mathematics and tune into my heart (which i don't think is too wet!)

and disagree with you being too cutesy either! although i do think you should 'let rip' - haha
looking forward to seeing the video :) was nice to meet you in oxford street x

    • Dave 11.06.2009 @ 17:51:41PM

Looks like it'll be a fun video.

Interesting review and yeah, all the ones I've seen have been positive too, which is a little strange. Disagree with the "too cutesy" comment - long may that side of you continue. I understand the "too wet" levelled at 'Tune into my Heart' but somehow after a few album listens I find myself looking foward to it. Guilty pleasure I guess.

Not sure what my favourite track is. Maybe 'Stuck on Repeat' (which I loved anyway) but that's not definite. Hmm maybe I should put the album on again to help me decide...

    • Little Rick 11.06.2009 @ 17:33:25PM

So pleased for you that the album is doing well! you proper deserve it! The shots from the new video look so exciting and love the make up! soooo pretty!

Was amazing to meet you on sunday in HMV Blackpool! Hope the Unicorn is doing well! hehe! xx

    • richardv 08.06.2009 @ 18:51:54PM

Got the single bundle a few weeks back, and got the album bundle this morning.

Its the first time I've heard such a small amount of an artists music before deciding to buy an album, but I didn't hesitate with Little Boots.

Proper home grown pop talent who doesn't rely on re-hashing like so many do.

But I do love all the covers you perform, you make them your own.

      Thanks for making excellent music!

PS - more Tenori On please!

    • GiftAssist 05.06.2009 @ 14:04:54PM

I know what you mean about Oasis, i was definitely more into them back then. But that's a great version you've done there.
Blur would be great to see live.

    HEAVEN! starring philip oakey

oh and the single's out this week, doncha know?

UPDATE: finally got some pics! thanks to ELECTRONICALLY YOURS

so last night we were in Heaven. literally and metaphorically. thank you so much to everyone who came to the gig, it was an incredible atmosphere and such a great moment to be able to perform 'Symmetry' with Philip live, I seriously felt like finishing the gig early after the song as didn't quite know how to top it! But was so so much fun, hoping to post pics and video from it soon but I don't have them right now. afterwards we had a great little after party where far too much champagne was consumed... some of the best/ worst moves to whitney's 'i wanna dance with somebody' i've ever seen... and various members of the party (me excluded) managed to carry on right through till breakfast.

its been quite a surreal week, feel relieved to finally have something out properly that people can buy... but also feels a bit distant in a strange way, its hard to describe. in case you hadn't noticed 'New In Town' is out NOW eeeeek.... so far its doing really well in the singles chart so thank you so much to everyone who has bought it, especially all those who bought the super bundle from the website. if you haven't yet you can get it on 7digital for just 50p this week or it is also available on iTunes and physical copies from the Bootique on the website.... blah blah blah. is it wrong i bought my own single? every little helps (sorry, i'm in tesco... the slogans are subconciously sinking in.)

think i've been burning the candle at both ends a bit, on top of uk tour (which has been AMAZING thanks a million if you came) i've been to new york and berlin so kind of exhausting but hanging in there and its all positive, so incredible to go to all these places and have people everywhere want to talk to me about the album. can't wait till its finally out and people can hear it... there was a great 4 * review in the times today which made me happy, check it out here.

aaaarrrggghhhh tea without sugar is just wrong. so busy every day feels like a week at the minute... but at least i don't have to get on a plane now for at least a week. we are playing GAY on saturday, i'm super excited and have been plotting a few surprises he he he. also the day before the album release we are doing an instore at HMV in my home town of Blackpool which I'm super super excited about and think it will be really special. the day after that we will be playing in HMV on oxford street then.... FESTIVALS!!!!!! i have counted 33 in my diary?? mental.

ok that's enough for now. apologies for lack of pics i really need a new camera... for some compensation here's a video of a genius game Grimmy invented for me on his radio 1 show last week.

    see you soooooooooooooooon.......... xx

oh yeah and here's a (un)fashion blog i did for topshop

      I want to see!

Any chance on any gigs in the Midlands, would love to see you live soon :)

Great review here: http://www.themusicfix.co.uk/content/gig-review/6097/little-boots.html - worth adding to your links.

Love "New in Town" and bought it three times, the video, EP and single from iTunes, does this count for three purchases for the charts?

Since the superb Jools Holland appearance, I can't get "Remedy" out of my head, and can't wait to hear all the other songs in full, especially Symmetry with Philip Oakey, being a big Human League fan for many years!!

Not long until June 10th now!

      Cheers, Dave

    • StuartWilson 31.05.2009 @ 21:22:40PM

Hello Victoria. I'm Swooey from Twitter, you may or may not have seen my rather strange rants. Ah well, it's just cos I'm extremely impressed with you and your music :D.

I love the new single and it's a great tune and lyrics. Your voice has an Alison Goldfrapp meets Girls Aloud touch to it which is superb but you're much better looking than both of them put together haha :D. Been looking at your blog and videos, you totally aced that Tenori-On btw. I can barely string a melody on my Yamaha YPT-200 in comparision, even though I love copying 80s/90s synthpop and dance tunes on it, I'm a million light years away from your prowess.

I seriously hope your single and album do superbly in the charts and I just thought I'd add that you seem a lovely person and that makes a real change from the pop stars of today. I also love your influences, as I too love stuff like the Human League, New Order (I bet the Bizarre Love Triangle cover is superb, I do love that tune and its programming), Pet Shop Boys, Eurythmics, Depeche Mode etc and today's stuff like Goldfrapp, Lady Gaga, Sam Sparro, La Roux et al. You're better than all of them though! Love electronic music generally though like yourself.

Can't believe you have such tiny feet btw?! I thought mine were dwarf-like for a bloke!...even though they're size 8, I'll shut up lol.

Anyway I know you're busy, but would be great to hear more from you and find out more about you.

PS I would love to when you're not busy do a radio interview with you this summer for my Uni of Kent journalism project please. It would be privately assessed, however I would publicise it on my uni's CentreForJournalism site and my facebook page, so you can get some good publicity if you want it. Just would be great to speak to you and promote your work as well as practice my hap-hazard journalism skills lol.

Anyway give me your thoughts whenever you're free and here's a link to my journalism blogs: http://www.centreforjournalism.co.uk/blogs/albums-changed-music and http://www.centreforjournalism.co.uk/blogs/stuartwilson

Bye for now and best regards xx

Didn't manage to get to a gig (silly exams), but will definitely be right at the front of the stage at glastonbury raving away! Glad to hear that the single is doing really well, hope it gets to top ten x

As an 80's student (yes i'm 45 now) seeing Phil Oakley was a big surprise. I was "brought up" on Gary Numan and the Human League so electronic music is my thing. Really liked Delphic too. Hoping to get somne mates along to Heaven on the 6th June so they can see what all the fuss is about. Best song last night - New in Town - totally see why that was chosen for debut single - No1 written all over it!

Hm. Tinchy Stryder has such small boots! ;)) Nice commentary from the radio-producer, "he's small in all the ways" or something like that..

I hope i'll buy (and find) her album soon, i think it's really good judging by the songs i've already listen too.
Hopefully, i will manage to go to a gig in this summer, it would love it..
