GLASTONBURY & JONATHAN ROSS!

« Back to listing

OK OK so everyone's bored of glastonbury already but I've only just got around to having 5 minutes with an internet connection. I'm in a hotel in Sweden and its BOILING. So here we go.

I don't have many pictures by basic summary of the weekend was AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. The gig at john peel was so awesome thanks zillions everyone who came or watched on TV or online. If you missed it you can watch it by clicking this lovely picture I stole from somewhere online, sorry...

thank you to whoever took it, this should take you to the BBC website where they have videos of most of the set and some pics they actually own.

also want to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to Henry Holland who made me my beautiful dress and tights! (www.houseofholland.co.uk), Swarovski for the crystals that covered and Topshop for the shoes!

my mum came to the gig and actually managed to cry the entire way through the set (sorry mum), was impressed with her festival styles though...

also want to say zillions of thanks to everyone who helped... Heddy, Pabs, John, Kat, Jaimie, Klare for doing my hair & make up, Tillot obvs, and of course Ben, Chris, Lauren & Rhiannon... here's a pic of us all in our hoods before we went on stage

pretty bloody jedi.

later on I DJd at the Stonebridge bar which was loads of fun, just played loads of italo and silly disco, thanks to everyone who came down to that. managed to catch a few bands... klaxons (nice outfits), ladyhawke, metronomy, some other stuff... haven't got many more pics if you were there and have any please post in the members section for me!

on Saturday I played an acoustic set in the Guardian Lounge which isn't something I normally do but was really fun despite me being a bit tipsy, I did a few of mine and a few of other people's including a little tribute to MJ in the shape of Earth Song, can't really do it justice but its the thought that counts. RIP Michael. x

(thanks to Stkiki for the footage)

anyway on saturday night we had to leave to play a gig on sunday which would mean I would miss BLUR closing sunday night. wasn't gonna happen. so don't ask how but managed to get a few strings pulled and only got a helicopter back afterwards so i could make it!! i've never been in one before, was incredible seeing the festival site from above... thought i'd be scared coz of my flying problems but never felt so safe... definitely most diva moment of my life so far!!

the captain and i

ready for take off!

white horse from the sky!!

GLASTONBURY BY AIR!!!!!!! (its actually bigger than most surrounding towns)

so yeah that was a pretty epic experience. and blur was, well, bloody amazing. obvs.

spent the week recovering and rehearsing then on friday we performed on the Jonathan Ross show... I was actually the most nervous I've been for a while but was great meeting Emma Watson, Sandra Bullock and Benny Andersson from Abba (OMG)... was a great experience. If you missed it watch again on BBC iPlayer here

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00ldxcl/Friday_Night_with_Jonathan_Ross_Series_16_Episode_22/

or think its on youtube. Worth it just for Wossy's broomstick stunt at the end.

Ok that's all for now... played some great festivals in Denmark and Sweden this weekend, amazing how many people know the songs wherever we go. Coming up next weekend we have Oxegen Festival in Ireland and T in the Park in Scotland, plus we are playing a v special gig in London at matter in the O2 with Pet Shop Boys and Joe Hot Chip DJing, who will also be joining us on stage for a few tracks with his modular synth to make a right racket... should be sick! Its invite only but see the News section for how to win tickets.

blaaaaaaaaaaa xx xx

    Hi LB,

My daughters and I loved your set on the John Peel stage at Glastonbury. It was their favourite all weekend. I even raced over to the Stonebridge Bar (after Doves finished at midnight) to enjoy your DJ session and share a bit more of your time at the festival. You have real musical talent and I love what you are doing.

I can't help though share a few thoughts as I compared you to other female singers at Glastonbury at similar early stages of their careers (Ladyhawke, Florence and the Machine, Bat for Lashes, Lisa Hannigan and LeRoux). Both Ladyhawke (who I think you saw?) and Florence got bigger and louder audiences to their set at the JP stage. Yet I think you have better / stronger pop songs.

I think that is due to their stage act which really engaged the crowd. Yours was fine, I loved the fashion statement you made and you have such a lovely personality that comes across. But I'd like to see your backing singers and the guys in the band stepping up and playing a more active part in the act. I also think you missed a trick by not playing an acoustic number during the set. Your recent cover version of Blur on youtube would have been so apt and a real Glastonbury moment.

I'm no Simon Cowell, just a punter who knows what he likes and recognises talent and potential - which you have in buckets!! You were one of my highlights at Glastonbury (with Doves, Florence, Lisa H and Blur) and life is simply better with you around.

    Richard

Saw the John Peel and Guardian Lounge sets at Glasto and both were fantastic.

Glad to see some of the Guardian Lounge set on Youtube as I'd wanted to film some myself but had left my decent mobile at home. Partly because it'd be easy to loose but mostly because I knew the battery would have been dead by Thursday.
