come on, vogue

« Back to listing

so i watched the september issue the other night (the documentary film about anna wintour, editor of american vogue) and it was pretty amazing, even though she has a rep of being a bit of a bitch by the end i came away with total respect for her... anyway this got me a bit obsessed and i actually did a shoot for american vogue the other month, so its quite rare that i do this as i never normally look at anything these days but i requested a copy of the article so i could see how it turned out.

here it is in all its glory.

life ambition acheived, not only am i in VOGUE OMG but its a lovely piece with a beautiful photo and incredible clothes but hang on a sec.....

I'M NO WHERE NEAR THAT THIN!!! WHAT'S GOING ON????!!!!!!???

I doubt that it s deliberate attempt to make LB look anorexic -- simply a lazy designer scaling the pic. I suspect the payout originally was planned to have the first column over where the title is but someone decided to add the title over the pic instead.

I know fashion mags routinely surreptitiously alter fashion shots but they don't exactly have a shortage of skinny girls for run-of-the-mill clotheshorse shots. They'd have no editorial policy of altering every shot.

    What's the point ?

Quite bizarre about the photo. As an art director, I can tell you the headline and subhead could have been used above the photo, and the photo could have been used unscaled, there is still plenty of room on the page to play around with. I usually result to such trickery when I have an article that has too much text that I have to fit on a page. But, you were still in Vogue! :)

I think you should give up the Butterfield diet.

Congrats on Vogue, i don't understand why they have to mess out with images of perfectly beautiful people.

In my opinion you look to thin in that picture, you look great the way you are.

Vogue are a disgrace for tampering with your photo. I'm sure they believe anyone not conforming to their warped view of the perfect body size can't be of any interest. I'm an anti-airbrush!

Fab little article. The picture makes you look dead tiny and a bit scared! lol! Yay for vogue though! :) xx

Cool article - must be a buzz for you!

Nice photo, but yeah - you look much fitter in real life, without being airbrushed/stretched!

Looking forward big time for the Mcr gig x
Hope Magical is still in the set. You gonna do a Dead Disco number in Leeds? Go on...

Veronica,I love your style!!! And I think you're perfect in your weight. Not anorexic, normal!!! All girls should look like that...: ( Wish this stereotype stopped.
    Love u always Boots!!!xxx

Not this thin no. You are thinner than you think though. It's the little dresses you normally wear that make you look puffier than you rerally are, no matter how cute those dresses are by the way. I saw it happen up close in Amsterdam: you walk on: everthing cool and in place, you dance around: dress creeps up on you a bit and changes shape, making you look bigger. It's the dresses: not you. You're tiny.
But this image looks overmanipulated. But hey that is the industry giving the masses the images the industry always does so a lot of people will feel insecure and buy products to look different or go to the gym or go on silly diets. ^_^

You look great as always, but I think you probably looked better before the airbrushing! It's a shame when magazines choose to airbrush a beautiful young woman into some idealised anorexic/heroin-chic stereotype.
