Hi! We are back in the country! I got one of the last flights out and first flights back how lucky is that?! Things were looking pretty hairy for a while though..
So I managed to get one of the last flights out before volcanic ash hit the nation, unfortunately our crew were not so lucky, which left us with the predicament of getting to the desert single handedly. The first thing we needed was transport. Luckily the guys had this under control...

So we drove for miles...

...and miles...

...and miles...

...only pausing momentarily to get water from a cactus...

... and take stupid truck photos.

By the time we made it on site it was nightfall. Luckily things were illuminated by a giant pink origami bird

We made it just in time for our fav band of the moment LCD soundsystem

The new album is GENIUS and has been the soundtrack to the weekend if not our lives, I seriously recommend it.
The next day we got a bit distracted by our house...

Understandably so!
Went and DJd at a Diesel party where we ran into our fellow DJ matey Mia Moretti...

Got some sweeet stuff from the new Henry Holland for Levi's collection

And as at every american music festival i have ever attended, ran into my favourite identically dress pair of human beings, AndrewAndrew

I now have a digital radio so can actually listen to their show on East Village Radio all the way in London, you should definitely check it out! They also DJ on iPads, are they actually from the future?!?
Later we went to a party we had to get a secret bus to. We were scared. Where were we going? Could this be some evil plan to capture all hipsters in the local area??

Well we were taken to what used to be Frank Sinatra's house for a massive celebtastic toga party. Pretty crazy.

We weren't really allowed to take any pictures but here is one of a giant naked ice statue man holding an addidas logo in the middle of a swimming pool. Like you do.

Sunday was the big day. We were headining the Gobi stage with no tour manager, stage technicians, lighting director or costumes. That's quite a big deal for probably our biggest american show to date. This my little pony sticker made me feel a little bit better...

...along with the glittery writing on our cabin...

Its the small things.
We ran into Flo backstage, her hair gets redder everytime i see her!

Then the sun began to set and the nerves began to set in...Coachella is a pretty cool looking festival though...

Big thanks to these boys who came to the rescue and stage techd for us, WEOWEU BIG TIME !

Also big thanks to Gina who managed to magic an amazing outfit out of desert after mine got stuck in England, Erica for doing my hair and make up so beautifully and to George for his as always incredible show stopping lasers
I didn't manage to get any pics from the show but here are some I pinched from idolator.com by Mark Oshiro (thank u!)

More here
There's also some pretty good footage of Earthquake here, unfortunately we had to use a different brain for the laser harp as ours got stuck in england (or maybe kesha borrowed it for SNL?) so it wasn't quite as responsive as normal but you can see george's amazing laser show pretty good!
So basically after a day of stress and nerves all went ok. The crowd were absolutely incredible, thank you thank you thank you everyone who came, it really made one of our last gigs for a while something special.
The next day we had no idea if we were going home or not what with all this volcano business, but our friend Paul from So Sweet Records saved the day and let us stay at their beautiful hotel in Santa Monica until we knew how stranded we were..

Amazing view. If you are ever in the area I serioulsy recommend the Shangri-La if you need a place to stay. We also met an excellent dog called Bear.

A lot of post Coachella peeps were staying in the same place and there was a rooftop party with our fav DJs Aeroplane playing but I couldn't keep my eyes open! Then we found out we had to leave at 5am coz there was a chance our flight might be happening... we boarded not even knowing where we were going to land but with an hour of the flight left to go found out it Heathrow was open, hurray! So we got home safe and sound as one of the very lucky 15 flights that day to land. Thank you British Airways. Take that volcano.
Now I am home for quite a while to write. My studio is looking great, the sun is shining and yesterday I planted cucumbers. All is good. Thank you everybody for a great year of touring, we will miss it.
ps. thanks to Chris & Lauren for a lot of the photos x
